Solent TV, the first not-for-profit commercial local television station in the UK, has commissioned Broadcast Networks to install a new studio and playout centre at its Isle of Wight facility in readiness for its launch as a new channel on SKY.
The station, which broadcasts local news, sports and information about the Isle of Wight and Solent region, already delivers its programmes via the Rowridge analogue terrestrial transmitter as well as Internet streaming and local Cable TV services. From January 2007, it will be available on digital satellite across Europe, making it the first community station to access the distribution potential of Digital Satellite Broadcasting.

Television production companies wanting to shoot programmes in out of the way locations can now access tailor-made satellite solutions thanks to a new service launched by UK system integration specialist, Broadcast Networks.
Broadcast Networks’ Satellite Communications division has already provided broadcast uplink facilities for a number of programmes including ‘the farm 2’, The National Lottery’s Millionaire Manor and Space Cadets.

Broadcast Networks has been awarded a contract by the Amsterdam-based Digital Media Centre (DMC) from chellomedia, a leading international distributor of channels, content and video services, to build a brand new high definition sports studio. The contract, won against international competition, is due for completion by late July. This is the latest in a series of contracts placed with Broadcast Networks over the last year for expanding and updating chellomedia’s infrastructure for HD capability. Read more ...

Broadcast Networks has been awarded a contract by Rome-based SBP to refurbish an existing Outside Broadcast vehicle and upgrade this to a fully HD capable production vehicle. The contract is to be completed at the end of July 2006 ready for an immediate roll-out in Italy in August.

ITV chose Broadcast Networks to design, build and commission the HD playout channel at ITV. The contract was completed in May 2006 ready for the HD coverage of the FIFA World Cup Football finals from Germany. Sony Broadcast awarded the build and project management contract of 2 High Definition Outside Broadcast vehicles for OB Team in Norway to Broadcast Networks. A team of engineers has been tasked to manage the build of these two vehicles, due to be delivered to the customer in July 2006.

Broadcast Networks has won an international tender for the Design, build and integration of a High Definition Sports studio which is primarily going to be used for the World Cup 2006 by Chellomedia. A new addition to the Chellomedia's facilities at the Digital Media Centre in Amsterdam, this High Definition studio is the first of its kind in Amsterdam.

Broadcast Networks has won the contract to provide satellite uplink services for the National Lottery - Millionaire Manor - from a mansion situation in the south of England. One of our transportable control rooms has been deployed for the duration of this exciting production.

Broadcast Networks has been selected as the prime satellite and communications provider for a new reality production run by Endemol UK. As a key partner in Endemol productions, Broadcast Networks are extremely pleased to offer communications and satellite services for Space Cadets. This project included the provision of multiple uplinks for broadcast and streaming as well as a complete fibre network at a disused airfield in Suffolk.

Broadcast Networks was contracted by ITV to expand their existing regional transmission facilities by integrating additional transmission lines for each of the ITV regions. This allows ITV to transmit selective advertising on the Digital Satellite distribution network.

Broadcast Networks is proud to announce that we have been selected to provide broadcast uplink services and telephone, internet and data connectivity for 'the farm 2', an Endemol production for Channel 5 to be screened in May. As well as providing a fully redundant uplink system on site, Broadcast Networks will be providing a permanent E1 telephone connection for the on-site production team as well as a dedicated internet feed.

Broadcast Networks is proud to announce that we have completed the upgrade of the Central Matrix System and facilities at the ITFC in London. The existing 64x64 SDI and AES router has been replaced with a brand new Probel 128x128 SDI and AES router which is fully HD compatible. The upgrade prepares the ITFC for future HD capability with this new award winning router at the heart of the operation.
